Celebrating the Cycle of life

How many started singing the circle of life from the Lion King when you read the subject line? Sorry about that. I’m still humming it too. In that famous scene where the baboon holds up the lion cub for the whole kingdom to see, it marked the beginning of the cycle of life.

Right now we are nearing the end of the cycle, where vibrant colors of summer drain to gold then brown then gone. The oppressive hot humid days are done, and it’s cool enough for bon fires and bulky sweaters.

Plus it’s Samhain, Halloween and the season of the witch. Light our World Magic Samhain candle in celebration of the cycle of life and the confidence that it will continue. The celebration the cycle of death and rebirth is what Samhain is all about. Take stock in all the work you’ve done to make sure you survive the winter and let out a big sigh of relief; you did it! Now you can put your focus on indoor activities, including rest and contemplation.

Take a knee for your ancestors and show them respect. They are the wind beneath your wings.

Now is the time to celebrate your ancestors and thank them, forgive them and let their talents and gifts flow through to you. The thinning veil makes it easier to really feel the love they have for you. Do you have an ancestor altar in your store or at home? If you are an entrepreneur you better bet there is an ancestor who was one too. Light a Blessed Herbal Ancestor candle to show them you are following in their footsteps.

In direct contrast to the natural trend toward becoming quiet and reflective, you are gearing up your store and staff for high activity of buying, stocking selling and doing it again. It’s what you live for. This is your last push of the year to make your numbers. That may feel like you are out of sync with the world. Retail can do that to you.

Let the spirit of the season, inspire you to take time to reflect on how the year went for you. Did you reach your goals? How did your plans play out differently in real time compared to what you imagined? What changes will you make for next year? We know you are busy, but, please celebrate the cycle of life by watching how it plays out right in your store. Let it help you acknowledge your hard work, pat yourself on the back for your successes and reflect on the mistakes so you can learn from them. If you haven’t already, remember the ancestors for all that they have passed down to you. Both the challenges and the talents you inherited from them will contribute to the ever improving you.
