I am always learning more about money. Sometimes the lessons are in bookkeeping, other times they are lessons in gratitude. Not surprisingly, they are all about me. Is your life like that too? I hope so. Our life is all about us. There I said it and I don’t feel ashamed about it anymore.
Back to the money and the lessons. I have mentioned a few times that I am a student of the Spiritual Arts Institute. To say they are a premier school of Metaphysics is an understatement. I love their teachings. During one of the lessons we spend some time talking about money. I was given a perspective I’d like to share with you.
We are custodians of God’s great wealth. Hmmmm. That makes sense if you understand that everything comes from God the creator of everything. Yes this is a one God perspective and the basis of the teachings. Another way of putting it, all wealth, everything, comes from the gods. We are just borrowing it and use it to learn about creating, sharing, giving and receiving. We are also using it to test our own character.
No matter your current view of the universe and who created it, He / She / They own it all. Everything from lint to the solar systems. Still, we can partake in this mind blowing abundance and we do it the old fashioned way, we earn it. I still can hear John Houseman’s voice. The five lessons of wealth.
Mastering money is not about money at all. It’s about mastering energy and what we do with it (that is where we learn about mastering ourselves) that grants us access to more. Manage it well and we earn more; not unlike investing. My teacher Dimitri put down a couple of guidelines to help us get better at handling wealth.
- Bless the money flow. Bless it as we send it out and bless it as it comes in. Some money has been down a hard road and is fouled with low-lying energy. Ask that it be redeemed in the light so it can be a blessing to us again.
- Acknowledge where wealth comes from. We’ve covered that already.
- Honor the divine in everyone.
- Be generous. Stop being afraid and greedy, there is more than enough for everyone.
- Be open to receive and use the prosperity wisely. If you get self-serving, you diminish your ability to attract wealth – it’s called money karma.
All good tips to live by and they can activate a lot of self-reflection. I consider my money karma to be in pretty good shape, but Dimitri also warned that we can screw that up too if we fall out of love with God. The test comes when we have lots of money under our influence. What do we do with it? Will we be like Oprah Winfrey or Ebenezer Scrooge? “You get a car and you get a car and you get a car…“ LOL. Doesn’t that sound like fun? I look forward to the day I can do that.
Wealth, money, abundance are great teachers because they teach us so much about ourselves. It’s been a journey for me. Learning to love myself and be loved has been directly connected to the flow of reward in the form of money into my life. I didn’t get it at first, but with time and reflection and lessons, I understand better. Money may not lead to happiness, but happiness can lead to money. God blesses you and smiles upon you always, look up, smile back and let the wealth flow in.
